Carmen Electra

Carmen Electra

Carmen Electra is an American actress, model, television personality, dancer and signer who have been mostly famous for her svelte figure and sultry looks. She initially tried to establish herself as a singer but failed to do so and eventually turn her wheels towards acting and hosted an MTV game show. Her life took a roundabout when she got a role in the hit television series, Baywatch (1997-1998) and her stint with playboy magazine cemented her reputation as a sexy starlet.

Carmen was born as Tara Leigh Patrick born on April 20, 1972 in Sharonville, Ohio, USA, a suburb of Cincinnati, to Patricia, a vocalist, and Harry Patrick, an entertainer and guitarist. Her mother passed away in 1998 due to brain tumor. Incidentally, Carmen’s older sister, Debbie also passed away the same year due to heart attack. She completed her schooling from Princeton High School in Sharonville.

Career in Movies

In early 1990s, Carmen brought her first singing album for Prince's Paisley Park label. She however, failed miserably. It was Prince who gave her present name after changing it from Tara. Not to be disappointed by her failures, she then shifted gears to acting and broke upon the scene through several appearances in television programs.

In 1996, with her nude pictorials on the cover page of magazine, Playboy she instantly rose to fame and landed the much talked about part in the lifeguard TV series, Baywatch (cast member from 1997-1998) and MTV's Singled Out ( where she replaced Jenny McCarthy as the co-host). She returned to Baywatch for the 2003 reunion movie, Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding.

Her first liaison with Playboy was so successful that she again graced their magazine in 2007, June issue and on the cover page of December 2000 and April 2003 issues. In the Playboy Cyber Club, she was the first woman invited to be a celebrity guest photographer; she chose Playmate Jennifer Walcott as her subject model.

Carmen has lent her name to many movies like Good Burger (1997), The Mating Habits of the Earthbound Human (1999), the horror spoof Scary Movie (2000) and also appeared in Scary Movie 4 (2006), Epic Movie (2007), "Date Movie" (2007), the remake of the 1970s TV show Starsky & Hutch (2004) and Cheaper by the Dozen 2. In fact she even won an MTV Movie Award (best kiss) for Starsky & Hutch. The critics, however, so far have remained aloof to her work done by panning it.

In 1999, she appeared in the Bloodhound Gang's music video of “The Inevitable Return of the Great White Dope”. Her career began to soar after 2004 where in she made appearances in hit shows as The Osbournes, The Anna Nicole Show, and, most notably, Newlyweds, Elektra and husband-to-be Dave Navarro agreed to let an MTV camera crew record their lives for the reality show Til Death Do Us Part.

In 2005, she joined the voice cast of the animated series Tripping the Rift, replacing Gina Gershon as the voice of the sexy android "Six". Also in the same year, she began the Naked Women's Wrestling League, acting as the commissioner for the professional wrestling promotion.

By late 2006, she got associated with the brand taco Bell and did commercials for them. Electra is also the current spokesmodel for Ritz Camera Centers and has appeared

in their television and print ads with CEO David Ritz. She is a playable character in the video game Def Jam: Fight for New York and is one of the celebrity challenges in the video game ESPN NFL 2K5, along with Steve-O, Jamie Kennedy and others. She has her own line of prepaid and gift MasterCards and is a spokesperson for Payment Data Systems, Inc.

Her future project revolves her being confirmed as a contestant on NBC's Celebrity version of The Apprentice.

Carmen in the beginning of her career was involved with pop star Prince and later rap singer B-Real of Cypress Hill. She got married to basketball star Dennis Rodman in 1998, but later separated from him after just one year.

On November 22, 2003, Electra married Dave Navarro, former lead guitarist for the rock bands Jane's Addiction and Red Hot Chili Pepper. And on February 20, 2007, the couple got divorced.

In 2007, tabloid sources linked Carmen with her childhood crush, Joan Jett, citing the two of them together romantically. She however, denied such liaison and finds them amusing.

Carmen hopes to charm her way through things like she had been doing earlier and ultimately reach the top one day.
